How Mk Fisher turned a personal hardship into a powerful force of advocacy for healthier moms, babies, and communities.
This month’s Feel Good Friday spotlights Greenville’s very own, Mk Fisher, Content and Digital Enablement Manager. After seven years at TD SYNNEX, Mk has become a familiar face in the halls, but an even more powerful force in the community, especially through her work with the March of Dimes.
For Mk, the mission is deeply personal. In 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, her first son, was born prematurely. What should have been a joyful time became an isolating and uncertain four‑month journey. Yet amidst the fear and the unknown, the March of Dimes stepped in to offer emotional support, advocacy, and the benefit of life‑saving research. Her son faced steep challenges early on, but thanks to treatments backed by March of Dimes research, he received the care he needed, and Mk credits the organization with helping save her son’s life.
That experience ignited a passion in her that has grown steadily ever since. For the past three years, Mk has been an active volunteer with March of Dimes Upstate, serving on the committee for their largest gala, Signature Chefs. Last year, she was featured as the Ambassador Family Spotlight, sharing her story with others navigating similar journeys.
For Mk, the real reward is seeing the ripple effect of the work. “It’s uplifting to see the impact on others’ lives,” she shares. Hearing stories from other moms and families and witnessing their resilience and watching a powerful community form around healthy moms and strong babies reinforces one message: “what you do matters.”
At TD SYNNEX, Mk has discovered a supportive community that rallies behind her passion for the March of Dimes, using the Charitable Giving Program to help generate funding while inspiring co-workers across Greenville to get involved in meaningful ways. What began as a small group of co-workers with shared experiences has grown into a team united by the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of healthy moms and babies. Last year, Mk and 15 other co-workers participated in the March of Dimes walk where they joined together to march towards change and a healthier future for families everywhere.
Mk’s journey is a powerful reminder of how lived experiences can become catalysts for change. Her story shines a light on the strength of community, the impact of compassion, and the extraordinary things that happen when people come together to lift one another up.
