81% of millennials believe corporations should practice corporate social responsibility (CSR) and support good corporate citizenship. Another study finds that “Millennials say they are prepared to make personal sacrifices to make an impact on issues they care about, whether that’s paying more for a product, or taking a pay cut to work for a responsible company (62% vs. 56%).”
With these expectations in mind, and TD SYNNEX’s focus on corporate citizenship, it’s no surprise that the global IT leader and its co-workers are at the heart of making an impact in the communities they serve worldwide.
As part of that effort to make a positive impact beyond business operations, TD SYNNEX empowers its co-workers to become leaders in their communities and create transformative change through the Volunteer Ambassador Network (VAN). Last year, TD SYNNEX launched VAN to empower and encourage co-workers to make a difference through volunteerism. There are currently three VANs located in Clearwater, Florida; Greenville, South Carolina and Mumbai, India. The VAN combines corporate responsibility with a spirit of fun, fostering a grassroots culture of volunteerism.
The Power of the Volunteerism at TD SYNNEX
The VAN operates as a group of co-workers organizing volunteer opportunities for their co-workers that benefits both co-workers within their communities. By leveraging their diverse skills and talents, co-workers address community needs and promote a culture of giving back. For example, VAN has supported initiatives such as a successful blood drive in Clearwater, a weekend packaging over one-thousand meals for Meals on Wheels in Greenville and organizing a blood drive in various offices in India.
Creating Impactful Leaders
TD SYNNEX’s commitment to community transformation goes beyond volunteerism; it’s about cultivating leadership qualities among co-workers. By engaging in community service, co-workers enhance their problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills. The VAN focuses on volunteer activities that aligns with the Community Relations program pillars: digital divide, children and wellness.
89% of working Americans believe that companies that sponsor volunteer activities offer a better overall working environment than those that don’t.
“Our co-workers are seeking guidance from TD SYNNEX on how they can be impactful in their communities,” said TD SYNNEX’s Global Community Relations Manager, Denise Dixon. “Job seekers are expecting companies to make a difference beyond making blanket statements of change with little to no action. They want to know, ‘do you care about me, and what I am passionate about?’”
Cultivating a Fun and Inclusive Culture
“We aim to be a leader in corporate volunteerism driven by our co-workers to help transform our community,”
Fostering a spirit of fun and inclusivity is crucial in building a successful volunteer program at any organization, and its value that TD SYNNEX embraces. The TD SYNNEX VANs have organized blood drives, beach and park clean ups, assembled hurricane prep kits and coordinated food drives for their communities making volunteerism enjoyable and rewarding for their co-workers.
How Our Co-workers Are Getting Involved
TD SYNNEX’s Volunteer Ambassador Network exemplifies the company’s commitment to empowering its co-workers as impactful leaders in their communities. By providing a platform for volunteerism, TD SYNNEX enables its co-workers to make a tangible difference while fostering personal growth and building a strong sense of community. The Volunteer Ambassador Networks in India, Greenville, and Clearwater locations so far are transforming the areas they live in and inspiring others to do the same. This will be amplified with the addition of our new volunteer platform which will be an entirely new way for co-workers globally to create a culture of volunteerism.
