CRN welcomes Reyna Thompson into her new role as President, North America (effective Dec. 1) and celebrates Peter Larocque’s legacy.

After recently announcing Reyna Thompson’s appointment as President, North America following Peter Larocque’s move to an advisory role on November 30, CRN covered the transition in a series of three articles.

The first piece featured partner reactions to the news, reflecting on Larocque’s 40-year legacy and sharing excitement for Thompson’s new role. Mike Kiani, president at MK Management, an MSP based in Irvine, Calif. that partners with TD SYNNEX, shared the following sentiments about Larocque’s impact:

“We are going to miss Peter. Whenever we needed help as a reseller, we could count on him to be there. He was different than any other distribution executive I have known. He played an active part in helping partners close deals and grow the business.”

TD SYNNEX partner Michael Kanan, CEO of Southfield, Michigan-based InaCOMP and co-President of CommunitySolv, shared the following remarks about Thompson’s appointment:

“Reyna is going to be driven by data, her instincts and influence. She is not afraid to disrupt as long as she understands what the desired outcome will be. I see her as a someone that will look at what the desired outcome is and allow the people that are the stake holders to reverse-engineer it and bring it to life.”

In second article, Thompson spoke with CRN’s Steven Burke about the opportunity TD SYNNEX sees to define the partner of the future and lead the charge in the AI era.

“This is exciting because what we’ve seen is this sort of phenomenon in the last year, where partners have spent so much time honing their skills with specialization in a particular technology area. But the lines have blurred: security isn’t a silo; you can’t drive a cloud practice in a silo anymore; data and AI are not in a silo. These are integrated technologies. So we are seeing these partners expand their traditional technology focus to include some of these other technologies. That is going to require us to support them in a different way. The good news is we absolutely have the capabilities to do that.”

The final article centered around what Larocque’s advisory role will look like and what he’s most looking forward to during retirement, which is spending quality time with his wife of 23 years and his three children. He reflected on his time at TD SYNNEX with the following:

“I have the best job in the industry, and always have. We have a great team. We completed the (Tech Data and Synnex) merger from an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning system) and process perspective. I have a great group of leaders who, if you don’t play them, you’re perhaps missing a window that’s really important.

In the case of (incoming North America President) Reyna (Thompson) she is exceptional. This is how we roll here. That’s part of our success. We actively manage our succession plan. I’ve worked very closely with Reyna over the last 18 months, and she’s ready. And I’m ready to do things that are on a lesser basis, spending more time on family and relaxing.”
