Over the last five years, Clearwater-based TD SYNNEX co-worker Josh Muirhead has been directly advocating for children to have all the resources needed to succeed in life. Growing up with a mother who was a devoted school teacher, Josh developed a deep passion for fostering children’s growth and learning. In 2018, Josh was introduced to the Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS), an organization whose mission aligned with his passion, and gave him the opportunity to be a part of something with a true impact.
For 120 years, CHS has worked hard to provide the essential resources needed for children and families in Florida to thrive. Essential resources including child welfare and early childhood services, counseling and mental health services, and mentoring and job training programs help families build strong bridges for success. In 2012, CHS partnered with the University of Central Florida and Orange County Public Schools to introduce the Community Partnership School model. The model was first introduced to Evans High School, and has since been added to a number of other schools such as Mort Elementary, Manatee Elementary, and Daughtry Elementary. The program offers health and wellness resources, an expanded learning curriculum, family and community engagement opportunities, and encourages collaborative leadership.
To get more involved with the organization, Josh joined CHS’s Advisory Board, a group of dedicated individuals who are responsible for driving awareness, fundraising, and advocating for CHS and the Community Partnership Schools. In 2020, Josh became Chair of the Board, which provided him with the opportunity to travel to Tallahassee, Fla. and advocate for CHS in front of elected officials. Josh’s dedication doesn’t end there: earlier this year, Josh submitted a Charitable Giving Request to TD SYNNEX to directly help the Community Partnership Schools program, specifically to support the mental health counselors within the schools. Because of Josh’s dedication and passion, TD SYNNEX has made a donation to support this program. Through all of his efforts, Josh has been able to truly make an impact on a cause close to his heart. Josh’s story shows that one person’s dedication can make a difference.
