How Bharghavi Naredla and an all‑female‑led DEI initiative brought purpose, connection, and humanity to the heart of work in Singapore.
For Bharghavi Naredla, Senior IT Project Manager and a passionate member of the Singapore DEI committee, creating space for connection and purpose is at the heart of what she does. Within her role on the DEI committee, Bharghavi helped bring to life a powerful initiative that blended inclusion, service, and humanity in the most meaningful way.
Back in November, the Singapore DEI committee launched an initiative that brought colleagues together to volunteer at Dignity Kitchen, a remarkable social enterprise called ‘Project Dignity’ with a mission rooted in opportunity and belief in human potential.
Since day one, the mission has been clear: to restore dignity to the differently‑abled and disadvantaged through vocation with passion. Project Dignity provides sponsored training for unemployed adults with special needs and supports their placement with employment partners across the food and beverage, hospitality, and retail sectors. Some graduates are also hired directly within Project Dignity’s own food court and retail space, creating a full circle of training, opportunity, and empowerment.

During the volunteer day, Bharghavi and her co-workers prepared meals for 30 elderly citizens. What unfolded was an afternoon filled with connection, conversation, and shared purpose. For Bharghavi, the day was especially meaningful. Earlier in her life, she had been actively involved in volunteer work, but life’s responsibilities eventually took precedence. Supporting and enabling DEI initiatives in Singapore helped her rediscover that passion for giving back.

“That contentment really fills your heart and builds a sense of belonging,” Bharghavi says. “After working so much with IT, AI, and coding, giving back helps make work feel more human.” This Feel Good Friday is a reminder that even small choices can create meaningful change. Something as simple as enjoying a meal at Dignity Kitchen helps sustain an organization, support livelihoods, and keep someone’s purpose alive. Restoring dignity can start with something simple — a meal, a conversation, or the decision to show up with purpose.
